Dear Sir,
A new UK company NuMax Fibre Technology Ltd has been developing a novel method for the cottonisation of flax based upon treatment of tow fibre in water by mechanical shock waves which is covered by a world patent. The company needs a supply of evenly-retted clean tow fibre for the next stages of the production trials. The initial trials will require about 0.5 tonne of fibre with follow-up work needing considerably more if all goes to plan.
I write to enquire if your company is able to supply samples for out initial evaluation. Because the process is so new, we cannot give you a clear specification for the fibre required and we may need to visit you to sort this problem out and agree a quality with myself. However, we need fibre which will respond well to mechanical cottonisation so it is likely to be somewhat over-retted but it must also be evenly retted and have low shive content. You may be able to send us small samples (about 200g would be sufficient) in order to make an initial evaluation from the range of qualities that you have available.
Should our trials be successful then we anticipate that we could require some 20 tonnes per week within 6 months when a full production machine with capacity of 500kg/hour would be ready, the ability to maintain a supply of consistent quality tow fibre is also important.
It might be useful if I could discuss our requirements, unfortunately in English, with one of your technical staff; a contact name and direct telephone number would therefore also be useful. You can contact me on***051.
The address for the delivery of small samples is:
