My name is Arianna Arleo, I'm the support for foreign commercial area for DAVfood company (www.davafood.it). We are an intermediation company, so it means that we cooperate with a lot of companies in various fields, as you can see from our website, so in the field of finished and semi-finished products and raw material.
We have many reference offices, in different parts of Italy, and in Australia, Poland and Brasil.
Our company is organised in a three-level structure:
- Direct selling as commercial agency to supermarket chains and discounts, managing private label products.
- Management of products on account of importers, to sell items on italian market.
- Management of commercial agencies which are spread on the whole territory, organized by regions.
Since the sweet corn market in Italy is well established, and there is a good potential of big sales, we are looking for serious companies who may cooperate with us in this kind of business.
The aim we'd like to reach in cooperating with a good company is to address to
- the discounts market, since there the numbers in sales are great, and we have many contacts with discounts in other fields of food products.
- the sales towards Italian private label: here in Italy, a lot of manifacturers which are producers of peeled tomatoes are more and more including in their range of products also the canned sweet corn. That's why, our second aim would be of inserting in the sale of private label of these companies of the product you may supply.
The important thing is that, we think it is better to focus on competitive prices than on quality excellence, but it obviously depends on what do you mean by "competitive price". I mean, the product we'd like to introduce has not to be the best quality product, since it would be very difficult to introduce, but has to be a product of acceptable quality with a price which is competitive to be introduced in the market of great numbers.

However, this kind of cooperation should be regulated by an agreement, since we are both traders, and the risk is that of being "climbed over" by our clients once we give them the direct contact of the other part company.
