FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Hello,
My name is Ed Callahan, I am the head coach of the YMCA Stingray special needs aquatics team that is based out of Monrovia. I work with athletes that have autism, downs syndrome, and many other disabilities the fundamentals of swimming such as stroke technique, water safety, and get them ready on a competition level to be a part of a swim team that I coach. Just recently had a swim meet in August and it was such a great success that we have decided to have another one in April 2015. We are very excited and at this time we have invited an estimated 350 athletes, 100 coaches, and hundreds of volunteers to be a part of this event. Needless to say that putting on this swim meet has it costs, that is why I am turning to you to help and support our special needs kids and help us raise the funds we need to keep these programs going
I realize that you only donate locally, but we are in a desperate state right now all we have been getting are rejects, so if at all possible can you please help these special needs kids out and put a smile on their faces. So please I am seriously looking for someone to help these special needs kids out by generously donating such items as sidewalk chalk, crayons, markers, colored pencils, or things of that nature for us to put into each of these athletes and coaches thank you bags and to use for the timers and volunteers, and it would be extremely generous of you. These thank you bags are a way for us to give back to these athletes and coaches to show them that we appreciate all of the hard work and determination that they are dedicating to their sport. I know that the event is several months away but we are trying to see what kind of donations that we can get and to see who wants to be aboard with us to support these kids and all that they stand for and to help make this event as successful as the last one. I realize that a lot of the companies have reached their quotas for donations for the year, but it can be extremely heartwarming especially when you can see the smiles that it puts on these special needs kids faces, and the hugs they give you when they say thank you I had fun, it truly just puts tears in your eyes knowing that you have made a bunch of kids extremely happy, and gave them a day they will never forget. In-Kind donations are always something that we have had a hard time getting but it always amazes me that the amount of people that if they dig down deep enough can always find some way to help these kids out. The success of our programs for these special needs kids are based on donations and without the donations we will be forced to either cancel the event or cancel the program something I really do not want to do to these kids because they have already been through enough in their lives. I am hoping that you can please help us out, and if you need a letter for your tax purposes I can provide you with one. If you do have any questions or would like to donate to our Stingray swim team please let me know. We would appreciate any help that you can offer.
In return for your generosity we will be more than happy to advertise your companies at our swim meet through banners, programs, and fliers, as well as announcing your support through our DJ throughout the event. Also if you should have a banner we would be more than happy to hang it at the meet for advertising purposes, so can you help these special needs kids out.
