Chow chow is a pickled relish traditionally made at harvest's end with vegetables that were leftover on the vines and plants. Consisting mainly of tomatoes, cabbage, onions, sugar, vinegar, and spices, it was canned for use during the winter as a condiment to compliment meals. Chow-chow was traditionally used when eating cabbage, collard greens, and varios beans. But, it goes great on hot dogs, hamburgers, any meat sandwiches. Some industrious people put it in soups, as well. However one uses chow chow relish, it is guaranteed to enhance the flavor of whatever accompanies it. Annie lee's chow chow is made in a mild and hot version.
