From Caribbean ethnic, they were located mainly in the North region, primary in the States Sucre and Monagas. The Cave of Guacharo was one of their sanctuaries and means in the chaimas language "who cries and complains" (due to the sound emitted by the birds that inhibit the cave). The Chaimas were also ferocious and feared by the Spaniard conquerors, which were terrified by their cannibal customs. |
