Craftstec Youth Self-help Group
About us | Craftstec is a youth self-help group that was started in the year 2002. It is located in Nanyuki Town near the famous Mount Kenya, It caters for -unemployed, HIV/AIDS victims, and less fortunate youth to create employment and provide them with guidance and counselling and also to make them self reliant For now we have 52 group members but we have been getting more youth asking for admission in our group but we cannot cater for more. But in future we will admit more youth as we get more resources and donors. Some of the youth who are infected by the deadly disease HIV/AIDS are supported by the group members physically materially and financial where possible. However, some of the problems facing our group are: - Lack of permanent business premises, - Our youth are illiterate -Financial problem, to buy raw material and to run the business. -Lack of market for our finished products - Those affect by HIV/AIDS needs special care and medicines, which are very much costly. Children left behind by the victims are looked upon by the group and even to educate them. Those who are unemployed joins hand and are trained to make handcrafts thus they get their daily bread and even basic necessity.
