Platarg Engineering Ltd
About us | Platarg transfer presses are ideally suited for all types of deep draw work within a particular size range and many have been sold to companies all over the world. With 25 to 160 ton capacity, up to 17 stations and running at speeds up to 250 spm Platarg provides a comprehensive range of different solutions. A typical production process for producing deep drawn cans on a Platarg transfer press is as follows: - Stage 1 Blank with zig zag double row feed from coiled strip served from a decoiler/straightening unit. Stage 2 Dummy/idle to allow room for horizontal movement of strip when zig zag blanking. Stage 3 1st Draw Stage 4 2nd Draw Stage 5 3rd Draw Stage 6 4th Draw and form base Stage 7 Size and stamp base Stage 8 Pinch Trim (remove scrap) Stage 9 1st Redraw Stage 10 Form neck Stage 11 Bead neck Stage 12 Size Stage 13 Unload through bed of press and out of press by gravity through a chute. Where surface finish is critical, the Platarg Finger Opening Device (FOD) transfer slide can be used. Finger opening minimises component surface marking as well as reducing the cost of the finger inserts which grip the components. To limit the amount of scrap lost during production the Platarg zig zag feed can be used that will give approx.7% saving over using a single roll feed. Various models in our press range are now supplied fitted with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and other Simplified Tool Change (STC) features. A brochure and CD both containing details of STC are available from us upon request. STC features help to make the presses more user friendly and reduce the skill level and time required to change and adjust tooling. Other Worldwide applications of our deep drawing presses cover a wide range of components varying in both size and complexity. Platarg have designed, tooled and produced parts in the following areas plus others not listed: - Automotive, including minature motor housings, valve stems, cigar lighters, hose ferrules and brake components. Battery Cans, to all major manufacturers. Bearing Cases, to all major manufacturers. Cosmetic/Pharmaceutical packaging, including aluminum aerosol bottles, caps and stainless steel stems, lipstick housings and perfume bottle caps. Writing instruments, including pen refills, caps, barrels and ball point housings. Electrical, including light and lamp fittings, screening can covers, condenser cans and connectors. We have catalogues for each type of press and some ancillary equipment. Should you require hard copy information then please advise which type of press you are interested in and we will post the relevant issues to you. For any enquiries that you wish to send us I have also attached to this e-mail a copy of the Platarg enquiry questionnaire. Upon receipt of a completed copy our press and tooling designers can identify the solution that will best suit your component. It would be a benefit if a sample of the part in question could also be sent to us. Should you have any queries or require any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me. |
