About us | Manuka honey is both a food and a health product. Over the past 20 years Dr Peter Molan of Waikato University has developed an anti-bnacterial measuremnt for manuka honey that helps determine its antibacterial potency. Dr Molan developed a measurement called the unique manuka factor(UMF). This determines manuka honey's antiseptic or phenol potency. The higher the UMF number the more potent it is for health purposes. |
