The company started as The Virtual Company with direct support from the Business Link Wessex (Department of Trade and Industry of British Government - DTI) and has been incorporated in April 2002. Since incorporation the company completed the development of a number of working prototypes and generated positive cash flow by selling other products.

The company maintains strong Research and Development emphasis while exploiting all possible technological routes to expand the use of proven medical treatments. Acuvision Ltd. is privately owned. It is trading profitably and is continued to be supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the U.K. who hold a minority stake in the company.
