Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Business Directory (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you use this website, create an account, publish a company profile or product, or send an inquiry.
1. Information we collect
- Account and company data: company name, contact person, email address, phone number, address, country, business licence or certificate uploaded during registration, and login credentials (stored as a password hash).
- Listing content: product names, descriptions, specifications, prices terms, images and other content you publish.
- Inquiries: the name, email address, phone number, country and message you submit when contacting a supplier.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and security logs used to prevent abuse.
- Wishlist: for guests it is stored in the browser; for signed-in members it is stored with the account so it can sync across devices.
2. How we use information
- To create and operate your account and publish your listings.
- To review registrations and verify business credentials.
- To deliver inquiries to the supplier you contact.
- To send service emails such as email verification, password resets and inquiry notifications.
- To prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and to maintain the security of the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Legal bases
Where applicable, we rely on your consent (for example, when you submit an inquiry), the performance of a contract (providing your account and listings), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the service), and legal obligations.
4. Sharing information
- With suppliers: when you send an inquiry, your contact details and message are shared with the supplier you contacted so they can respond.
- With service providers: hosting, email delivery, security and anti-bot providers (such as Cloudflare Turnstile when enabled), strictly as needed to operate the site.
- Legal reasons: where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention
Account and listing data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for backup, legal and dispute-resolution purposes. Inquiries are retained so suppliers can respond and for record-keeping. Security logs are retained for a limited period.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You can update your company profile and account details after signing in, or contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies for sessions, sign-in and security. We do not use advertising cookies. If analytics or anti-bot services are enabled, they may set their own cookies as described by their providers.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Children
This website is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 16.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date.
