Reliability, Efficiency and Success in Africa is the name of the game because we pocess a specialists rare knowledge, the right contacts, and the clout to ensure that the best results are yours. The West African nation of The Gambia experienced a military coup in July 1994. The then military junta LED by Lt Yahya Jammeh went through a period of hostilities with the west which resulted in sanctions, loss of donar and multilateral funding, very bad relations with traditional allies such as USA and UK, political instability, a weak economy and a very divided and polarised society. In 1989, a new constitution was drafted and under pressure from the west, presidential and parliamentary elections were held to return the country to civil democratic rule. The leader of the military junta formed a political party, took part in the presidential race and won. The opposition parties and the west cried foul, citing the fact that certain parties were unfairly excluded from the elections and put forward allegations of electoral fraud. The sum total of all this was a leadership at war with key members of the international community and a significant proportion of it's own people at home and in the diaspora. There were joint campaigns and activity within and out of the country to bring the Jammeh administration down. Five years went by and and in accordance to the constitution, presidential elections were set for 18th October 2001. The upcoming activity got the various anti-Jammeh forces working around the clock to ensure that President Jammeh loses his grip on the seat of power. Under intense pressure from the international community, all excluded political parties in the previous election were included in the race. Three major political parties joined forces to form a coalition, a move that created rather stiff competition and sent shivers down the Jammeh camp despite all the advantages of incumbency. The Jammeh administration decided to PR itself out of local and international hostilities and put the country on a good footing for accelerated development. The odds were really against it and this called for the best of profiling and strategies if they had to maintain the grip on power. Our expertise was engaged in the person of myself and I would graciously and humbly state that The Gambia has been a measurable beneficiary of our services, the result of which is evident to all.
