Sunpet was first established in 1972 as Sunny Industries Company. In 1980, it was incorporated and changed to its present name. The first China plant was first erected in 1983 and has been expanded many times since then to its present size. The plant is in a single enclosed complex of six blocks. Total working floor space is 22,000 square metres and houses over 1,500 workers.
Sunpet specialises mainly in manufacturing optical products. In 1994, Sunpet set up the first in Hong Kong an ultra-precision machining centre for aspherical plastic lens manufacturing. Until now, it is still the only centre of this kind in Hong Kong industry.
At Sunpet, there are excellent in-house facilities to enable products to be developed and manufactured under the same roof. Sunpet has been awarded the ISO 9002 and ISO 9001 certificates since 1997 and 1999 respectively.
In addition to its own branded products, Sunpet also develops and manufactures products in big brand names on OEM and ODM basis.
