| About us | Synergene Technologies Ltd is the newly established DNA Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory located at Attard, Malta. The company provides genetic diagnostic and sequencing services using the latest DNA capillary sequencing equipment and an advanced molecular biology laboratory. Synergene’s Mission is to be a hub of biotechnology in the Euro-Mediterranean region. We are currently in the process of developing collaborative relationships with medical professionals, organizations, research centres and academic laboratories throughout the Mediterranean, European the Middle Eastern regions. The Services 1. Medical Diagnostics Synergene provides genetic diagnostic services to hospitals, clinics and medical professionals, both locally and internationally. Our aim is to supply health care professionals with the services they need to deliver accurate medical genetic advice and related care to patients and their families. 2. Genetic Identification – Paternity testing Synergene’s Laboratory provides accurate, confidential paternity and other genetic DNA identification testing. DNA testing is now a well-established procedure that is widely accepted in courts as legal evidence. 3. DNA Sequencing Services Synergene Technologies uses state-of-the-art sequencers and associated equipment to provide high speed, cost effective sequence data and add-on analytical services to individual researchers, research teams, project consortia and scientific collaborators. We are also introducing a range of bioinformatics sequence analysis services over the next few months that will save the researcher time and the tedium of data searches. 4. Research Projects Synergene Technologies is continually striving to develop new services based on our expertise. In addition to its commercial services, the company supports a research facility, based at the University of Malta - Laboratory of Molecular Genetics. This comprises 20 researchers from various scientific disciplines including genetics and genomics, molecular biology, protein chemistry, and neurophysiology. The group is currently working on a number of research projects with the objective of developing an Intellectual Property pipeline in various scientific areas, including: - genomics research - bioinformatics - genetic identification applied to forensic analysis - genetically modified organisms Synergene also plans to extend its technical capabilities to other fields of interest. For example, genetic testing for breast cancer susceptibility can be utilized not only for diagnostic purposes, but also for general population screening possibly in collaboration with breast cancer awareness programs. Population-based screening also finds applicability in newborn testing programs. Business Proposal The company is seeking private sector business partners to promote and distribute its services within the international market. Potential partners include: - distributors of health care related goods and services - private hospitals, clinics and health care centres - private research centers The company is also seeking to work with the local government to provide genetic related services on a national scale in collaboration with the following departments: - Health Department - Agricultural Department - Military and Police - Science and Technology Divisions - Education Department – Universities research centers The company is also seeking large scale genome projects to best capitalise on its state-of-the-art sequencing facility and low cost base in Malta. Synergene is particularly interested in private/public investment or collaborations to further develop its expertise in certain bio-manufacturing, neuro-pharmaceutical and other specialised biotechnology research and development projects |
