Cloisonne, also called 'Copper-body and Wire-inland Enamel', has a long-standing history of several hundred years. It was very popular as far back as in the years of the reign of Emperor Chingtai of the Ming Dynasty (1450-1456 A. D. ). As the technique was already well developed, plus the fact that enamel was chiefly used, it was termed in Chinese 'Chingtai Blue'.
