The drill collar is machined according to Chinese standard SY/T5144-1997 "Drilling Collar" and API 7-1 "Specification for Rotary Drill Stem Elements" , and the material is AISI 4145H alloy structural steel which is machined by deep hole processing. Quenching and tempering are processed strictly to the total cross-section before the thread and the spiral groove are machined. After the thread examination is qualified, cold rolling is adopted to machine the thread roots and the stress dispersing groove, so that the fatigue failure at the thread can be reduced and the service life of the drill collar can be increased.
