Patrons who order a meal at the bar receive a drinks coaster and return to their seats. When their meal is ready for collection, the bar person simply types in the patron\'\'s coaster number into the small desktop transmitter and the coaster will light up, beep or vibrate to let them know that their meal is ready for collection.

This discreet and effective system eliminates the need for noisy overhead pa\'\'s - which spoil the often finely-crafted ambience where staff or customers must be contacted. The coasters include an innovative \'\'stack and charge\'\' design which saves kitchen space and provides the additional benefit of a self-test. Whenever a coaster is removed from charge, the self-test ensures proper functionality and provides the customer with a preview of its behaviour when paged.

First, the LCD lets the staff know when the coaster is charging correctly; second, it displays the current level of charge when the coaster is separated from the stack and third, it lets management and staff know how long the customer has been waiting for their order.

The versatile transmitter allows for the on-the-fly customisation of the alert type for the coasters (beep, vibrate and flash can be turned on or off individually).

The out of range feature lets staff and management know whenever a coaster is taken out of range of the transmitter - making for an effective anti-theft device in the process.
