Create a New Component Database
Use this procedure to create a new component database. Typically, a new component database is created for a product or family of products requiring only a small group of components from the master component database. Creating a new database with just the required components makes it easier to find and select the components required for insertion in the product.
(For more detail refer to the New topic in the Component Database module.)
Procedure:
1. How to get there (from Product Editor window):
Components > Database > Database > New
The New Component Database dialog box is displayed.
2
In the Database field enter the name of the new database.
3
Select OK to create the new database.
Use the Merge feature to add components from an existing database to the new database.
All component categories are displayed in the new component database.
Merge Databases
Use this procedure to add selected components from one database to another database.
When IM-UPS is upgraded, any new component categories are available once a new database is created. The Merge option can then be used to copy component definitions from an existing database to the new database. This eliminates the need for redefining existing components in the new database while retaining the integrity of the existing database(s).
Before installing a new version of IM-UPS rename the existing MASTER database. Failure to do this causes the new database to overwrite the existing database resulting in loss of any custom component definitions.
(For more detail refer to the Merge topic in the Component Database mod-ule.)
Procedure:
Open the target database into which components are to be added.
1
Components > Database > Open
The Open Component Database dialog box is displayed.
2
Select the component database into which components are to be im-ported.
3
Select OK.
Open the source database from which components are to be copied.
4
Database > Merge
The Merge From Component Database dialog box is displayed.
5. From the Databases list box, select the database from which data will be copied.
6. Select OK. The Merge Databases dialog box is displayed.
7
From the Components list box of the Merge Databases dialog box, select all components to copy to the target database.
8
Select OK to merge the selected components into the open database. The new (target) database now contains all the components selected from the source database.
Create a Dispense Head Template (Sequencing Machines)
Use this procedure to create a dispense head template. A dispense head tem-plate can be used for multiple products and automates the process of assign-ing each component to a dispense head when creating a product.
Procedure:
