It is usually vibration-molded, carbonized or graphitized under precise technical control, and machined to specific shapes for various purposes.
Applications: Casting molds for railroad wheels; heat exchangers for chemical industries; electrodes and linings in some industrial furnaces(such as graphitization furnace); cathodes in aluminum electrolytic cells; etc.
Programmable properties: High thermal and chemical resistance. Good thermal conductivity. Low coefficient of thermal expansion. Minimal wettability to molten metals.
